The “Parentucator” is a column from the perspective of a veteran middle school teacher whose children have recently entered elementary school. The author’s view of education has changed as he sees education through a parent’s eyes. This experience has had a profound effect on his own classroom and his outlook on education in general, hence the column title.
After reading a Huff Post article about opting out, Chris became involved as a parent boycotting high-stakes standardized exams and works with others across New York State and the nation to protest education policy that is harming our children’s education.
