A REAL 3rd grade ELA test example: Tolstoy. Really?


  1. These kinds of stories work so well with city kids. I mean, how many of them have any idea what a “threshing-floor” might be, even with the definition there to read? And, who decided that this was third grade material? Would this story be of interest to most 8-9 year olds? I would hate to see the questions asked.
