As a dedicated Democrat, I volunteered for the Obama campaign in Indiana while in graduate school. I was extremely happy when Indiana went blue for the first time since the 60′s. But now, I’m done. Between his comments on testing, military operations in Libya, and of the many other disappointments as a progressive Democrat, I think the best and only option right now is abstention. I’m going to try to put these thoughts in a longer post for the Huff in the next few days. But for now, I have no other option. I refuse to vote Republican, and what I am going to do, vote for Nader? Hell no, not after 2000. This is not a lazy position at all. I’ve done more and understand more about our political environment than your average citizen. So, that’s it President Obama, I’m out.

Obama leaves more than a little to be desired. But your refusal to vote for Democrats leaves us all, including the less fortunate than you and I, with the Republicans, in some ways resembling classic fascists. Remember 2000 and Gore vs. Bush. Note my home state of Illinois where 12,000 votes for governor in 2010 made the difference between Quinn and reason, and a Republican clone of Wisconsin’s Walker. Hold your nose if you wish while you vote, but vote!
Since you are the first blogger who mentioned the contradictory statements of Obama vs. Duncan, thought you might enjoy this article if you haven’t seen it already.
